20% time in the classroom
Many classroom are adopting the concept of a 20% time project where students drive what they want to learn.
My Marine Bio students are given the opportunity to design a project that connects their future career w/ the ocean. They are given 20% of their time (through class and HW assignments) to complete this project. Come learn how to have students write proposals, create student-generated rubrics, set weekly goals and then self-assess. My Regents Biology class also is given time to design Presentations of their alignment of our curriculum with a personal interest. This maximizes learning without interrupting instructional time. Learn how to manage over 60 different projects using Google Classroom and Google Docs to "meet" with each student weekly both in the classroom and online.
